1. Information we collect

You give us:

• Account details — name, email, phone number, and password (stored encrypted).
• Profile — username, avatar, and your city/state location.
• Device data — IMEI, brand, model, condition, photos, and listing details you add to your vault or the marketplace.
• Reports & content — lost/stolen reports, messages, reviews, feedback, and support requests.

We collect automatically:

• Approximate / precise location — used for the "Near Me" marketplace feature, only with your permission.
• Usage & analytics — how you interact with the app, to improve the Service.
• Security data — IP address, device/session info, and login activity, kept in security logs to protect your account.
• Push tokens — to send you notifications (you can turn these off).

Payment-related details (for subscriptions) are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card details.

2. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the Service — accounts, vault, IMEI checks, listings, and transfers;
• To run device verification, risk scoring, and lost/stolen protection;
• To power location-based features like "Near Me";
• To send transactional and, where permitted, promotional notifications and emails;
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats;
• To provide customer support and improve the Service.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed:

• With other users — your public profile, listings, and seller information are visible to buyers; transfer records are shared with the other party.
• Community reports — IMEI risk data and verified lost/stolen reports may be visible to other users to help prevent fraud.
• Service providers — trusted partners that help us run the Service, including cloud database hosting (MongoDB Atlas), image hosting (Cloudinary), email delivery (Resend), push notifications (Expo / Google Firebase), and our payment processor.
• Law enforcement & safety — where required by law, or to investigate stolen devices, fraud, or threats to safety.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, safety, and fraud-prevention obligations. Some records (for example, verified stolen-device reports) may be retained longer to protect the community.

5. Your rights & choices

• Access & update — view and edit your profile and device details in the app.
• Delete your account — you can delete your account at any time from the app; we remove or anonymise your personal data except where we must retain it by law or for safety.
• Export your data — you can request a copy of your data from within the app.
• Notifications — manage push and email preferences in settings.
• Location — you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted passwords, secure authentication with session controls, and access logging. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and respond quickly to any issues.

7. Children

CheckAmm is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will remove the account.

8. Cookies & the website

checkamm.com may use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

9. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with this policy.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, may notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated policy.
